Faith Formation
Faith formation is a lifelong process in the Catholic Church. At St. Regis Parish formation is offered for children as early as preschool age. The parish also offers various formation opportunities for youth, young adults and adults.
Faith formation of the child | A twofold process
1. To introduce children to the person of Jesus Christ and present his teachings, ministry and major events of his life.
2. To assist children in learning the parables, formal prayers, sacred Scripture and meaning of the sacraments.
Faith formation of youth | We are called to
1. Empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today.
2. Draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the faith community.
3. Foster the personal and spiritual growth of each young person.
Faith formation of the young adult | Successful ministry achieves four basic goals
1. Connect young adults to God through Jesus Christ.
2. Connect young adults to the church and the Christian community.
3. Connect young adults to the mission of the church in the world.
4. Connect young adults to a peer community to further support and nurture their faith.
Faith formation of adults | National Directory for Catechesis states three goals
1. To invite and enable adults “to acquire an attitude of conversion to the Lord.”
2. To help adults make a “conscious and firm decision to live the gift and choice of faith through membership in the Christian community.”
3. To help adults to become “more willing and able to be a Christian disciple in the world.”
