Description of the Group's Activities:

Read the first and second readings at Mass, as well as the prayers of the faithful.

Skills/talents needed from volunteers:

Good speaking skills, a willingness to internalize the weekly readings.

Time commitment involved:

About once every six weeks. About three hours preparation practice reading the week before. Training is provided.

How this ministry can positively affect lives:

Proclaiming the word of God is a great ministry. I think you can feel the Holy Spirit working through you. "I am shy at speaking in front of a group of people, but reading as a lector at Mass does not make me nervous at all. Maybe it's because it is such great material to read!"
