Description of the Group's Activities:

This group makes personal visits to nursing homes and personal care homes where members of our church are living either permanently or temporarily.

Skills/talents needed from volunteers:

The only skill needed is an ability to communicate with these people in a caring and friendly way. They need to know that the church has not forgotten them just because they can no longer attend Mass. They love to hear about what is happening at St. Regis Parish and they enjoy talking about their time spent here.

Time commitment involved:

Usually the visits last 15 minutes to a half hour, sometimes less. If you call on three or four people, plan on an hour once a month.

How this ministry can positively affect lives:

The ministry will be of benefit to the visitor as much as the person visited. These are wonderful people and you will look forward to the time spent with them. No matter their physical or mental state, they are happy to have a visit from you.
