Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLW)

Please note that Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLW) is on hold while we find ministers to help. If you are interested in helping with CLW, please contact Karen the Office of Faith Formation at 412-372-4577 x 208 or [email protected] (all clearances are required).

Children’s Liturgy of the Word (CLW) is a ministry that takes place during most Sunday Masses throughout the year from late September through April.  It is an opportunity for children, as young as age 4, through those children in grade 4, to hear the Scriptures proclaimed in ways they can better understand.

Together they listen, sing, and pray.  Following the Gospel, the children hear a brief homily and are invited to ask questions about the readings that they may not have understood.  Every week, each child is given the opportunity to share a prayer intention that they hold in their heart.  Concluding Children’s Liturgy of the Word, the children are led back downstairs to the assembly for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

The Faith Formation Office is always seeking volunteers to participate as leaders, cantors, and readers (clearances required).  For more information, please contact Karen in the Office of Faith Formation at 412-372-4577 x 208 or [email protected].
