St. Regis Parish Faith Formation Elementary Program (kindergarten through the fourth grade) 2011-2012
Religious education classes for children in kindergarten through the fourth grade will meet from 6:00pm – 7:30pm the first and third Monday of each month from September 19th, 2011 through April 16th, 2012 (there will not be class on January 2nd, 2011).
Children should arrive between 5:50pm and 6:00pm, classes start promptly at 6:00pm. For safety reasons, please DO NOT drop your child off in the front of the building. Parents should park in the parking lot in the rear of the church and accompany your child to and from his or her classroom. No child will be permitted to leave the building unattended.
Our catechists are committed to generously giving their time each Monday, so we are asking all parents to continue your responsibility of making faith formation an essential part of your child’s life.
Whole Community Catechetical Sessions
In addition to our Monday evening sessions, we will be offering 3 “Whole Community Catechetical Sessions.” All members of the parish community are invited to attend these sessions. This should be seen as part of the Religious Education program.
Home Study Program
Our Home Study Program is available if your child is unable to attend the Monday evening session. It is your moral and religious responsibility to nurture your child’s development of faith. You can gather with all your children at the same time and use a simple guide along with their student text. Please indicate the Home Study option on the registration form. We look forward to you being a part of our Whole Community Catechetical session, too!
Sacramental Preparation
All children preparing for Reconciliation and Communion must have attended Religious Education classes in grade 1, or attended a Catholic school program.
Diocesan guidelines for sacramental preparation for children of catechetical age state that immediate preparation for the sacraments is the task of the parish community, thus preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation and Eucharist take place within the home parish of the child.
